Weight Loss Hack #13 How eating more protein can help you lose fat- (part 1)

Eating boosts your metabolism because your body uses calories to digest the food. It uses energy to breakdown and extract all nutrients for use. This is referred to as the thermic effect of food (TEF).

The body uses more energy than any of the other macronutrients to break down protein, it’s as much as 30% of the calories consumed may be used as energy just to brake it down ready to be used.

Whereas carbs and fat takes very little energy expenditure to break it down, it can be as low as 5-15%.

As you can see nearly one third of the calories consumed are used just to break it down. No extra cardio, no cutting calories, just the body doing what it’s designed to do. As it just has a harder time breaking down protein and the result is more calories burnt and less calories left over to be used or stored as fat.

So swap the carbs and fats for more protein and your net calories will be lower just by consuming more protein in your diet.

Try this little bonus effect of eating protein and getting your body working for you.
